Terracotta cookware has been used for countless centuries in Spain - its heat and flavour retaining qualities are well known..  Our products come from northern Spain where they are made to traditional designs using the local red clay.

Retaining their rustic charm these inexpensive items are produced to safe modern standards (the glaze is guaranteed to be lead and cadmium-free) in line with EC legislation.

The cazuelas (casseroles) are versatile additions to the kitchen - they can be used for cooking on all heat sources - directly on electric, gas and ceramic hobs as well as in both normal and microwave ovens.

In addition to their uses for all kinds of cooking they are also ideal as attractive serving dishes for hot and cold foods, from salads and vegetables to rice and pasta.

The oval dishes are perfect for vegetables or fish; in addition to Spanish cuisine the rectangular cazuelas are excellent for a wide variety of pasta dishes such as lasagne and canneloni.

The Jarro Rioja terracotta jugs are ideal for wine or sangria - they also make attractive containers for fresh or dried flowers.

See the recipe page for cooking ideas using cazuelas.

Guidance for the care and use of the terracotta cookware is supplied with every order.
